Enable presence

Enabling presence allows users to foster social interaction, build community, collaborate in real-time, and participate in live feedback. It enhances engagement, peer motivation and support availability.

How to enable Presence:

  1. Navigate to the Space or Group you want to enable presence.
  2. Select Configure from the options in the top right hand corner.
  3. Select the toggle next to Enable presence to enable the feature. (Blue is on, grey is off).

How Presence works:

  • When another user is viewing the same Space or Group as you, their name will now appear underneath the Title of the respective area this feature was enabled in.
  • A user's name will also appear in any cards that are present in the Space or Group when they are viewing it at the same time as you.

Enabling presence can provide the following benefits with collaborative work:

  1. Fostering Social Interaction: Users may feel more connected knowing who else is engaging with the same content or area. It opens opportunities for interaction, like messaging, sharing opinions, or collaborating in real-time.
  2. Building Community: Seeing who else is present can support the community feeling.
  3. Collaboration and Coordination: Knowing who else is active in a particular area can help streamline efforts, reduce redundant work, and improve coordination in real-time.
  4. Live Feedback and Discussions: You might want to enable this feature to participate in live discussions or receive instant feedback. This will support a dynamic and interactive experience.
  5. Enhanced Engagement: Seeing others in the same section can increase engagement, as users may spend more time exploring, interacting, or contributing when they know others are present.
  6. Peer Motivation: Presence can create a sense of accountability or motivation. In collaborative work, knowing others are “present” and working encourages members to stay active and focused.
  7. Support and Help Availability: In a collaborative setting where certain member roles such as Coaches or Improvement Leads are involved, you may want to enable presence to show help is readily available, making it easier to ask questions or seek advice from those present.
