Create and manage Team roles

Create named roles to describe the responsibilities of members of your organisation's Team. A role has a name and description, and can be assigned through a member's configuration panel.

For background on Team membership and access, see How Teams and permissions work in Simana.

Before you start

  • You need Admin access to your organisation's Team.
  • Decide on a clear role name and the responsibilities it should describe.

1. Open the roles list

  1. In Manage organisation, select the cog beside Team.
  2. Expand Features.
  3. Find Roles and select its cog to open the Roles panel.

The Roles feature controls whether roles are available for the Team.

2. Create a role

  1. Select Add role.
  2. Give the role a clear name.
  3. Open its configuration cog and add a description of the responsibilities associated with it.

3. Edit an existing role

  1. In Roles, find the role and select its cog.
  2. In Configure role, edit Name and Description as required.
  3. Close and reopen the configuration to check the changes.

4. Assign the role

Open the relevant member's configuration and choose the role from their Role selector. See Assign a role to a member.

Important: Role assignment and permissions have separate controls. Review permissions when deciding what access the member needs; do not assume a role name grants the necessary access.

5. Delete a role you no longer need

  1. Unassign the role from all Team members who hold it.
  2. Open the role's configuration.
  3. Select Delete role when the action is available.

Simana disables Delete role while the role is assigned to Team members and asks you to unassign it first.
